Created by The North Face, the manufacturer of sporting goods and apparel, the Explore Fund is intended to empower and inspire future conservationists and explorers by funding nonprofit community organizations connecting children with nature. Grants of up to $2,500 are being offered to nonprofit, 501(c)(3) status programs that encourage youth to get outdoors, increase access to frontcountry and backcountry recreation, and educate youth about environmental and personal health. Grants may not be used for indirect costs, overhead, or any other expense not directly related to project execution. Programs should also have significant measurable results and momentum over a short (1-3 years) period of time.
The Explore Fund website has complete information on the program, application instructions, and an eligibility quiz. Fall and winter program applications will be accepted starting September 3, 2012, and will end October 8.
Good Luck!
